SPRINGFIELD -- Scott Lee Cohen, the controversial independent candidate for governor, has run afoul of state campaign laws.
Cohen, like all candidates running in the Nov. 2 election, is required to turn in a fundraising report showing how much money he has raised between July 1 and Oct. 3.
The report was due Monday. It hadn't been filed as of Wednesday morning.
A campaign spokesman blamed the miscue on an overworked campaign aide.
"This was an inadvertent overlooking of a critical deadline," said John Davis. "With two weeks left in the campaign, things start swirling around."
