Judge Tim Evans was re-elected chief judge of the Cook County Circuit Court by a 174-82 vote of his fellow judges Monday.

“The reform agenda is what emerged victorious here today,” said the one-time mayoral candidate and former floor leader for Mayor Harold Washington.

Evans, 67, faced a spirited challenge from Judge William Maddux, 75, presiding judge of the court’s law division.

“I think we made a good showing for getting points across,” Maddux said. “I think you’ll see some changes.”
