ACTION ALERT! Redistricting process drawing to a close!
ICPR ACTION ALERT!
Redistricting process drawing to a close! ICPR encourages you to study maps and share your thoughts -- before it's too late
With precious few days left before the lawmakers' scheduled adjournment, the House and the Senate Redistricting Committees are releasing draft maps of their districts and holding three public hearings to accept public feedback on their proposals.
Now is your time to tell lawmakers what you think about their plans and suggest changes!
ICPR encourages you to study the proposed maps, attend the public meetings and make your concerns heard!
Senate Redistricting
To access the Senate's proposed map, and for updates, please visit: http://www.IlSenateRedistricting.com/ or http://www.senatedem.ilga.gov/
The Senate Redistricting Committee will meet noon Saturday, May 20 (tomorrow!) in Chicago, in Room C-600 of the Bilandic Building, 160 N. LaSalle St.
The Senate and House Redistricting Committees will hold a joint hearing 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 24 in in Room 114 of the Capitol in Springfield.
Individuals who wish to testify are asked to RSVP to: Redistricting@SenateDem.ilga.gov.
House Redistricting
As of 2 p.m. Friday, the House had yet to release its draft map. For updates and, eventually, access to its proposal, please visit: http://www.ilhousedems.com/redistricting/
The House Redistricting Committee will meet 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, in Chicago, Room C-600 of the Bilandic Building, 160 N. LaSalle St.
The Senate and House Redistricting Committees will hold a joint hearing 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 24 in Room 114 of the Capitol in Springfield.
Unfortunately, the General Assembly has not made available to the public draft maps of Illinois Congressional districts, even though lawmakers are expected approve those new districts before adjourning May 31.
Please remember that the districts approved this year will govern state Representative, Senate and Congressional districts for the next 10 years!
