Ethics Nominations
The 2003 State Officials and Employees Ethics Act is composed of
two Public Acts (click here for PA 93-0615 and 93-0617) and stretches
over 100 pages in length. The law’s primary purpose is to
establish the parameters of ethical conduct for Illinois’
public officials and employees. A key provision of the law requires
that both the legislative and executive branches establish ethics
commissions. These Commissions are appointed on a bipartisan basis
and are responsible for providing guidance, conducting ethics training,
hearing claims and recommending punishments.
