Eychaner, Fred

Fred Eychaner, the head of Newsweb Corporation and a Chicago resident, sits on the boards of the Joffrey Ballet and other Chicago arts organizations, and is among the top individual fundraisers for Democrats nationally. In recent years, Eychaner has also made donations to NorthwesternÕs Innocence Project, a project that leads to the release of wrongfully convicted prisoners and to the AIDS Foundation in Chicago. In 2004 Eychaner gave at least $3.2 million to Democratic causes and candidates.

Eychaner is a career patron of former Governor Rod Blagojevich (D), Attorney General Lisa Madigan (D), former Comptroller Daniel Hynes (D), and former Senate President Emil Jones (D).

From January 1, 1993 through June 30, 2006, Fred Eychaner gave $2.594 million to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 99% of which was contributed to Democrats.
