Daniel N. Katalinic, the son of disgraced political boss Daniel M. Katalinic,
was sentenced in federal court Thursday to 10 years and 1 month in prison for
robbing a Mt. Prospect bank last year.
With his father watching, Daniel N. Katalinic shook his head back and forth as
U.S. District Chief Judge James Holderman announced the sentence, warning that
people who commit such crimes will face stiff penalties.
Katalinic, 32, told the judge a long history of drug abuse led him to rob the
Parkway Bank at 1590 S. Elmhurst Rd. with another man.
Katalinic and his fellow robber brandished a loaded shotgun during the robbery.
Daniel M. Katalinic is also a convicted felon, set to serve a year in federal
prison for taking bribes in the city's scandal-plagued Hired Truck Program. He
received a reduced sentence because he became a key witness in the prosecution
of Mayor Richard Daley's former patronage chief Robert Sorich.
