News You Can Use from Recent Press Coverage
Between Jack Abramoff, George Ryan, and Jim Laski (not to mention a host of others around Illinois), there's been a spate of news stories about reform efforts. Editorials in the Bloomington Pantagraph, Chicago Tribune, the Freeport Journal Standard and others all call for reform of our political system. Read a compendium of editorials on our homepage!

Legislature Considers Reform Bills
The legislature is back in session and reform is again on the agenda. ICPR sent a letter to all sitting legislators and statewide officers urging consideration of a range of reform proposals, including campaign contribution limits (HB 743/SB1822), public financing of Supreme Court elections (SB1955) and a ban on state contractor contributions (HB4073). In the short session proposed for this Spring, now is the time to contact legislators about what you would like to see.

D2 Day
Not only is today, Tuesday the 31st, the day by which candidates have to disclose their finances for the last half of 2005, but ICPR is also planning on putting a whole bunch of information on our webpage. Look for a complete list of candidates who have signed the Code of Fair Campaign Prac! tices, along with Illinoisvotersguide.org, ICPR's resource for judicial elections. Watch the web!
