Reform Groups Remember the Governor’s Pledge;
Does He?
Eight reform groups yesterday released an open letter to Gov.
Blagojevich, reminding him of his pledge to “rock the
system in Springfield” and asking him to enact substantive
reform legislation this Spring. The letter is available on our
homepage and also on our blog. The Daily Herald ran an excerpt
in their “Fencepost” section, and Carol Marin wrote
an energizing column in today’s Sun-Times.
Alas, the crickets have been the loudest noise out of Springfield,
where legislators and the Governor have been working on a budget
and a host of other last-minute proposals. Will ethics, campaign
finance reform, Supreme Court public financing, or lobbyist
regulation be among them? Stay tuned. Better yet, pick up the
phone and ask your legislator.

Tickets sales are running strong for our event at Fado in Chicago,
one week from today. If you’re thinking of coming but
haven’t told us yet, please let us know now as we’re
nearing capacity. While tickets are becoming scarce, there’s
still plenty of room for additional sponsorships. Should be
a fun event!.
