ETHICS ACTION ALERT
Legislators are expected to adjourn the spring session by the end of this month. To date, they've rewritten the telecommunications wholesale rate law and debated, in public, numerous gambling provisions. They'll also adopt a budget. But in the last three months, despite promises to the contrary, we've seen nothing at all - no public hearings, no proposals filed - addressing ethics.

The time for reform is now. Operation Safe Road has racked up 56 convictions. Not one of the 61 defendants has been acquitted. And questions about the influence of lobbyists and campaign contributors continue to cast a pall on the capitol. Every major newspaper in the state has called for ethics reform, the public wants it, and even many legislators pledged to support ethics reform legislation. Still nothing has happened.

Citizens deserve a government they can trust and your voice can make a difference. Please let your public servants know you want a comprehensive ethics proposal enacted this spring by calling today:

Gov. Rod Blagojevich: (217) 782-6830 or (312) 814-6830
Attorney General Lisa Madigan: (217) 782-9003 or (312) 814-3000
House Speaker Michael Madigan (217) 782-5350 or (312) 814-4890
Senate President Emil Jones: (217) 782-2728 or (312) 814-2075
