* We're Moving
To make room for all the capable interns who help with our work, in a few weeks we'll be moving to new offices. Our street address will be the same, but our suite number will change. As of June 8, our address will be 325 West Huron, Suite 706, Chicago, 60654. The new offices include more open/flex space, and we are in need of office furniture, especially cubical dividers. If you have spare office furniture you'd like to donate to a tax-exempt organization, we'd love to talk about your cubical dividers, chairs and desks. Our phone number (312-335-1767) and fax number (312-335-1067) will both remain the same, as will our web and e-mail addresses.
* Illinois Governments Spent $6.4 Million ... to Lobby State Government
Now in its third installment, our report on state lobbying by units of government found nearly $6.4 million in spending by over 110 governmental bodies. Over 60 municipalities and municipal agencies hired contract lobbyists to influence the state legislative or executive branches; counties and county agencies, school and transit districts, exposition centers and the like made up the rest. The report, which garnered favorable coverage in over a dozen news stories from the Chicago Tribune to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, is available for free download from tinyurl.com/illinoislobbyists.
