'Coerced' campaign worker files complaint for pay

A state EarnFare worker who claims to have collected petition signatures for Clerk of the Cook County Circuit Court Dorothy Brown in her bid for County Board president filed a formal complaint with the state Department of Labor today saying he hadn't been paid for the work he was coerced into doing, illegal though it might have been.

Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown this week has been publicizing the name of a convicted felon to help her raise money in her bid to become Cook County Board president.

We don't know what troubles us more. Either Mayor Daley doesn't fully understand how the special, secretive slush fund he runs actually gets its money.
Or he isn't being straight with taxpayers about a program that last year alone sucked nearly half a billion dollars out of their pockets.

You read that right -- nearly half a billion dollars in property tax money.

Daley recently went on a media tour, touting the benefits of TIFs or Tax Increment Financing districts, a program the mayor clearly adores.
