Cook County Board President Todd Stroger violated a ban on political hiring more than 150 times since the start of 2008, the attorney at the center of a long-running lawsuit told a federal judge today.

Stroger’s administration altered the list of jobs not covered by the ban, which prohibits political considerations in nearly all personnel decisions without required court approval, according to the motion in the suit brought by attorney Michael Shakman. Stroger then hired at least 157 people for positions newly classified as exempt from the politics ban, Shakman alleges in the motion.
